On November 28, 2020, activists of the Ogólnopolski Strajk Kobiet (All-Poland Women’s Strike) unveiled a symbolic plaque renaming Rondo Dmowskiego in central Warsaw as Rondo Kobiet (Women’s Roundabout). The action came in the midst of nationwide protests sparked by the tightening of Poland’s abortion law and symbolized both resistance to patriarchal politics and the reclaiming of public space.

The plaque, placed at one of Warsaw’s busiest intersections, directly challenged the legacy of Roman Dmowski, a nationalist politician associated with xenophobia and exclusion. By proposing Rondo Kobiet, the activists not only honored the role of women in Polish society but also emphasized values of equality, solidarity, and democracy.

This symbolic gesture became one of the most recognizable images of the 2020 Women’s Strike, linking feminist demands with broader struggles against authoritarian tendencies in contemporary Poland.
